Burning Bridges

Way too often

it happened without warning

The venom spewed

and he knew not what he said

Took no consideration

to the weight of the words he wielded

Impressions left digging ruts

too many times tripping on his tongue

The hospitable bridges burned

amassed a mountain of ash unsurpassed

Affable friend too often turned foe

for lessons unlearned sorely scorned worn way thin

These social interactions are a challenge

and perhaps a realm better left for those more suited
