Touching Down

Upside downward gazing from blue I see

wispy billows of cascading ethereal hills rolling

and occasional broken glimpses of terra firma

as true topography steadfast in its measure

pokes its presence through the periphery

riddled with superficial patterns lacking intricacies

interrupting the Mother’s natural wonderment

by roughly tugging on her skirt mid sentence

in all its sense of necessity and urgency

and as the time travels I leave no footprints

waiting weightless in fascinated anticipation

to touch the down of this bird’s wing

and say a sad goodbye to another bird

preparing for eternal flight
